Perfect for a weekend getaway, or maybe you are looking for accommodation while doing some hunting, fishing or biking the Motu Trail.
The Motu region has so much to offer for outdoors enthusiasts. From Hunting and fishing, the Motu trail cycleway, the Whinray Reserve nature walks ( if you are really lucky you may hear or even catch a glimpse of the Kiwi that call the reserve home), the Motu Falls is also worth a look and you'll be able to get pretty up close to the many cheeky Weka that roam all over the area.
Motu village is small with a handful of homes, a school and the Motu-vation Cafe that also doubles as a museum with lots of information about the Motu region and a collection of acquisitions from a bygone era, it is only a few mins stroll down the road.
We are also lucky enough to have a Kiwi Creche just behind the property, when they have resident Kiwis in you may hear them at night along with the Weka calls.
The Cabin is rustic and simple but comfortable and cosy and has all the necessary amenities you would need.
Many of our guests so far have commented on how they enjoy the unique character the cabin has and it feels like going back in time, which is all part of the experience when staying at the Weka Nest.

As The Weka Nest is located in a remote rural area and is surrounded by trees, nature and natural wildlife. There are flowers, birds, bees and insects in the area. This can mean pollen or bugs may enter the cabin during your stay. If finding a harmless spider or bug would bother you, or if you are severely allergic to pollen or bees, we recommend you be prepared and bring any antihistamines or insect repellent you may need. Although we try to do our best to keep on top of spiders and bugs in the cabin we cannot promise the space will be entirely free of these things.
Please note that there is NO OVEN. There is a microwave, electric fry pan and double hob available for cooking and also a BBQ (available at request)

The kitchen and bathroom only have cold water to the sink and basin.
There is of course hot water to the shower.
Please be sure to pack a few extra layers as the weather can be quite changeable at times.

Our landline is available as an emergency contact as we also live on the property.
Our home is set away from the cabin so privacy is not a problem for guests.
